The New 4QF Forum

After 10 years and 17,000 posts it has become necessary to retire our old "Discuss" software; as it is no longer supported and is now subject to robo-hacks. With the advent of social networking sites, there is no forum software available with all the features that "Discus" had, especially reply by e-mail. This is a guide for new and old users in setting up your account, and using this system. Feel free to post questions to the Q+A thread in the Forum.

GUESTS: Need not register and have read only privileges to the Open Discussion Area.
REGULAR MEMBERS: Must register an account and have read and write privileges in the Open Area.
Registration is instant and is not moderated! Play nice!
Four Quarters Members: have access to all areas of the Forum.
But you must email 4qforumadmin at 4qf dot org to request that you be added to the Members Area. Please be sure to include your user name and a subject line in your email request!

After you register, go to your profile to set up your account.
This will control the order in which you view posts, email notification of new posts and lots of other fun stuff!

ABOUT EMAIL NOTIFICATION
This forum does not support email reply, as did our old software. It does support email notify, so you can read posts on threads you are interested in through your email. Here is how to set it up.

Click PROFILE in the upper menu that appears on every page.
Your PROFILE Menu will appear on the left of the page.

First click Notifications and Email in the menu. On the new page check off all three check boxes AND set the drop down box for "only replies." Your profile is now configured to support email notify.

! THEN !

Any time you read a post on the forum you will find a button labeled "NOTIFY" next to the "post" and "topic" buttons. Click the "Notify" button and the system will send you a copy of follow up posts on that thread.

From the email message that you receive, you can jump directly to the Forum thread and add more to the conversation.
