Alex:

With the rains, I did not get a chance to stop by and see the progress on the grandfather drum. Did the caliper we made for you answer some of your needs in guiding the carving?

If I make an additonal tool for the work, I can leave it with Micheal--but I am not sure of your schedule on work.

I wish you and grandfather well.

I have a large cherry log that would make a beautiful Grandfather Drum for the drum circle at 4QF.
What I would like to do is have a series of workshops that would culminate in its completion at Drum & Splash.
Grandfather Drum Building - This drum would be approximately the size of a 55 gal barrel drum. I was thinking $20.00 per person per event to work on it, with a 50.00 fee to be involved in the whole process (three events). Anyone in the workshop would be able on put their own symbology on the drum during the final phase.
First weekend - carving the drum into shape, chain saw, chiseling, maybe sanding. (Beltaine)

Second weekend - carving or painting sybology, sanding, staining, finishing. Putting the head on. (Fires Rising)

Third weekend - Tightening the drum, the Initiation, and playing it. (at Drum & Splash)

For Fires Rising, I would like to do a Meet & Greet with the staff and teachers. In it, we would intro the teachers and staff, brief description of the workshops. create bonding for the weekend.

Share a Rhythm, Learn a Rhythm. Encourage attendees to share what they know. the purpose is to create group cohesion. We would learn rhythms others know and would then play them at the evening drumming. This would mean contacting all drum facilitators and ask for their commitment in being at the event. We need to build cohesion from those who have the most experience. If you need someone to call these folks, I am available. I just need names and numbers and I can get on it.

Drumming with Chango, with Alex - develop skills of endurence, keeping rhythms alive. Feeling the life in a rhythm and building on it.

Hello.

Has 4Q come to a date for Fires Rising '09. Last I heard it had been changed to October, and changing it back to late May was in consideration. Some may have heard that it has actually been moved to May. Clarification is requested.

Thank You.
