Greetings Fellow Tribe...

About a month or so ago in an attempt to see how I might assist with

this year's event, I found myself lifting an arm to organize for this

year's festival, versus seeing it neglected and possibly dropped from

the schedule. I have begun to do so, and wish to recieve feedback

from attendees of previous years about what did and didn't work for

them.

I also would like to offer contact info to those interested in

attending this year's event, regarding what to expect, and who to

contact in regards to various trance options and bodywork that will

be made available during this year's event.

First off, rumour control...

There WILL BE a BODY TRIBAL 2005 on the weekend of July 29th-31st.

PLEASE PRE-REGISTER AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE!!!!

THERE WILL BE NO MEAL PLAN MADE AVAILABLE.

We encourage all attendees to bring packed coolers. We encourage all

attendees to meet their neighbors and attempt to form bonds of the

meal sharing sort. If you have extra food, and see someone who is

looking a bit ungrounded and or hungry, please feel free to share

your hospitality.

Many of us in the bottoms bring one or two huge meals for sharing in

addition to munchies and supplementals that can be added to group

meals and rarely do any of us starve. Some of our best times have

been shared meals and happy hours, where deep community has been

formed. Many of us who camp here regularly, NEVER purchase mealplans,

and find we do just as well spending about the same cost to

join the mealplan, with the convenience of eating on our own hours.

Second, Atmosphere...

This is an adult oriented event. The energies of differing body

trance states can be quite overwhelming. Some trance states require

blood be spilt, through needle, or blade. Some trance states deal

with sexual energy that can be overwhelming to those who are not

comfortable with their sense of self.
Note we are not banning children from this event. If you bring them,

you will be responsible for them, and will be asked to bed them

early, so the adults may continue their journey's without fear of

exposing them to energies that may be deemed unappropriate.

This being said, Holly of the 4QF Spiral Scouts has volunteered to

find appropriate activities within the theme of Body Tribal to

interact with the children that do attend.

She is not a babysitter. If you have children involved in these

activities, we ask that you volunteer your time as well, in helping

to keep the children entertained.

Contact Holly to see how you may assist... you may contact her @

Striving4balance@aol.com

Thirdly - Sacrifice Facilitation
Gordon, Abraham, and Kelly of the Sacred Mark Sanctuary (a bastard

magickal childe of Body Tribal 2002 ;) ) will be offering Energy

pulls (piercings with string attached to other individuals, and or

objects), Piercings, Brandings, Sensory Deprivations, Immobilizations

and Cuttings. Some of these activities require more planning then

others. Brandings often require a specific design to be made from

several pieces of bent wire that will be heated and applied to the

skin in succession. Cuttings can also require more pre-planning.

These individuals have been trained in these spiritual disciplines,

and are fully aware of the safety and health precautions necessary to

help you make it through these experiences in one piece. Attendence

of the Bodytrance Forum, Saturday morning @ 10:00 am at the fire

circle will be mandatory for any individuals wishing to follow these

paths of Sacrifice. This will allow for Q and A discussion where the

curious will be able to be informed. We also ask that individuals

undergoing various forms of sacrifice (especially sensory deprivation

and immobilizations) find a buddy that can keep an eye on them, lead

them and check in to see how they are doing throughout the event.

If you are interested in brandings or scarifications, contact

kelly@justaddfire.com, with your questions and or ideas. All these

services will be offered free of charge to attendees that are

interested, however you may be asked to provide certain material

costs, i.e. wire, hooks, and needles. Anyone requesting a permanent

piercing, will need to bring their jewelry and provide it early in

the festival so it can be properly autoclaved (sterilized) prior to

insertion. If contacted prior to the event, arrangements can be made

through these facilitators to bring starter jewelry to the event,

which may be purchased from them at that time.

Fourth, Vendors
I am currently organizing the interested tattoo

artists to get their paperwork up to date and submitted with the

farmhouse. Until they have done so, and are approved, I cannot

release contact information for them. However, we hope to have 3

artists on the land, one of whom is currently booked solid. This will

allow for 2 artists to be on hand for those who are wishing to

utilize their services will in this sacred space. Note, there are

specific preparations for receiving tattoos, that may require that

you skip activities like swimming in the creek, drinking alcohol, or

taking a purification sweat, prior to/directly after having work

done. It will be your responsibility to discuss these with the

artists when you arrive on the land. Also note, we are arranging for

the generators to run longer then normal hours so that the artists

can work during evening hours. We ask that you are courteous in your

scheduling, as we hope to have the entire community, artists and

patrons as well, partaking in main ceremony. We also ask that those

who support individuals during these rites of passage, maintain a

respectable volume in consideration for individuals and activities

that are nearby, especially during sleeping hours which may be

limited due to summer heat.

I will be posting more about the structure of the event and the

different focus groups which attendees may choose to partake in, as

we begin to get feedback on this forum. (And as it begins to solidify

within the facilitation staffs on discussions... :-) )

Here's to what promises to be an incredibly powerful experience for

all. WOOHOO!!!

Type at ya soon,
Dodger

Thank you for your enthusiasm Kate. This event is one of my favorites, and I'd like to keep it around.
I think we'll have some pretty powerful work going on this year.

The Color In-Between The Lines

These marks upon my body
mark my right of passage
my life
&
my meandering path
to find my true self
my inner essence
as One
as the sum of everything
that makes me whole
Not all the marks
where laid down
with awareness of Spirit
Not all the marks
where laid down
with good intention
Some marks are art
&
some marks are scars
Some marks are unseen
to all but me
The meanings evolve
the stories grow longer
as the ink and the scars fade
Some mark the journey
&
some mark the path
Some mark the lessons
&
some mark the veils
But each has a meaning
&
strength comes from
the courage of its expression

Thank you Maura for your words and vision. You not only captured a glimpse into what Body Tribal was for me last year, you captured much of the journey of my life...

my tattoos, my piercings, my injuries and their markings, and my inner scars which thankfully today are healing comfortably... Some call them war wounds, I now choose to honor them as marking my path and its inherent lessons.

I posted your poem into a word document and formatted it (adding "Posted to the Four Quarters Forum July 19, 2005 by Maura Graziano" at the bottom)

Would you like me to email you a copy?

May I have permission to share it with family and friends?

Body Tribal for me has always been an intense and different experience every time. It has helped me to understand and place into a better perspective some very difficult life experiences. It has helped me to find strength, beauty and most importantly for me family –tribe- to experience this with.

Moshe … War wounds … yes I too call some of those marks war wounds. For a period of time I had given up and reclused, I so very very tired of fighting and struggling with life and myself. That was another lesson I learned from the farm … some battles are worth fighting and some you just can’t fight by yourself. It’s absolutely ok to share those words however you feel they should be. To me those words are everyone’s, I just happened to hear them and write them down.

Holly … I’ve never read that book but it sounds like something worth checking out … thanks for the clue.

Maura

Dodger:

If you have already spoken to us about out roles in the ritual on Saturday should we come to informational meeting or will there be an organizational meeting for the ritual itself? I am just confused on where I need to be or what I need to do. I am looking forward to the weekend.

Dodger, et al --

Just wanted to confirm that, indeed, family considerations are going to mean that I'm not going to be at Body Tribal this year. Know that my thoughts, prayers, and sighs of longing will be with you. I really need to work on that bilocation thing!

Hollie,

We hope to offer purifications of various types between the sweats and fairy cairn, on saturday post noon. The schedule you are referring to, has simply been transposed from last years event. Please refer to your program when you arrive, and stay tuned to updates posted at the coffee dragons. As of my last conversation with Orren, I had not recieved confirmation from Doc and Ellie as to whether they will be available for pours. Much of the regular lodge crew are unavailable this weekend due to their festival next weekend. We are still hoping to offer single round purification pours, and have received permission from the lodgemaster Joe Scott to do so. It looks as though Orren himself may be stepping forward to assist.

Opening ritual on Friday is tentatively posted as occuring around 10pm, in order to give the friday post work arrivals time to interact.

Looking forward to seeing you there,
Dodger

Hi Brandy -
For piercings, you can get in touch with Gordon at 240-626-7041. He & Abraham will be heading up to the farm today, so try to call him early in the day if you can. But don't worry if you don't get in touch before they leave - they're bringing plenty of piercing equipment with them and will most likely have what you require.
Blessings,
Kelly
